TIFWAY 419 BERMUDAGRASS

Tifway 419 was selected and tested cooperatively by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Georgia Coastal Plain Experiment Station, and the U.S. and Southern Golf Associations.  It is well adapted throughout the southern U.S. and does well where common bermudagrass will grow.  It will survive moderate winters but is less winterhardy than Tifgreen.

Tifway 419 is highly disease resistant and exhibits a very dark green plant color.  It starts growth early in the Spring and remains green late into the Fall.  It is more tolerant to golf-cart traffic than common or Tifgreen but is less tolerant than Tiflawn.

Tifway 419 has short seed stalks that bear heads with light reddish anthers which shed no pollen.  Since Tifway 419 never produces seed, it must be vegetatively propagated.   Four classes of planting stock (Breeder, Foundation, Registered, and Certified) will be recognized.
