SPANCO PEANUTS

Spanco was developed by the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station and released in 1981.  Spanco is a composite of two sister lines that originated from a cross between Chico and Comet.  Spanco is a high-yielding, early-maturing, Spanish bunch type peanut with erect growth habit.  Spanco is not as early as Pronto but is 10 days to two weeks earlier than other currently grown varieties.

The vegetation is slightly darker than Pronto but lighter than Florunner.  It has moderate sequential branching with flowers on the main stem.  The deeply constricted than seed pod normally contains two seeds per pod.

Four classes of Pedigreed Seed (Breeder, Foundation, Registered and Certified) will be recognized.
