Bison Buffalograss

Bison Buffalograss was jointly released by the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS in 1990.  It is a cold-hardy variety suitable for forage, conservation, and general purpose turf in the Southern Great Plains of the U.S.

Bison produces higher seed yields compared to Texoka.  It is similar to Texoka in forage yield, in-vitro digestible dry matter, crude protein, and acid-or neutral-detergent fibers.  It is also similar to Texoka in morphology, growth habit and seasonal production characteristics.  Pedigreed seed classes include Foundation and Certified.  No Registered class.

Bison is a protected variety under Title V of the Plant Variety Protection Act to be sold by variety name only as a class of certified seed - PVPA 1970.  Three classes of Pedigreed Seed (Breeder, Foundation, and Certified) will be recognized - no Registered class.
